Ms. AmyMs. Amy joined the McMinnville Playschool family in 2009 when her oldest son ran headlong into the classroom. Amy has enjoyed her time as a parent in the classroom and supported the school in a variety of jobs from Enrichment Coordinator to Vice President. Amy began her role as our teacher in 2013.
Ms. Amy is the proud mother of three energetic boys; an artist inspired by our amazing natural world, and a teacher. Amy has a Master of Arts in Teaching from Lewis and Clark College. She is also an Oregon State Certified teacher in K-12 art.
“I believe in the power of play. Children play to express their feelings and ideas. Children play to figure out social relationships, how their bodies work, stories they’ve read and situations they’ve encountered. Children play to grow intellectually, to explore and process the world. I believe that playing is learning.
There is nothing better than to watch a child in the moment of discovery. Teaching is not about being the one to show that discovery to a child, but to create an environment that is just waiting to be discovered.
I want every child to feel respected, loved, safe, cared for and listened to. Not just by me or their parents, but by each other.”

Ms. Amy is truly honored that families share their children with her. She appreciates the expertise and commitment families bring to McMinnville Playschool.
